According to NY CBS Local News, neighbors say the couple still had their house decorated with Easter eggs and angels as they came to pay their respects. Tragically, on April 4, a speeding vehicle driven by an intoxicated driver struck the Chevrolet pickup truck of William Kear, age 67, and his wife Joanne, age 66, as they were turning left in Ronkonkoma. The impact T-boned and flipped their truck.
Suffolk County police have statements indicating that the light was green for the Kears and red for the other oncoming vehicle. A witness reported the speed of the driver running the light was 80 or 90 miles per hour.
The 23 year-old driver of other vehicle, Kyle Glinka of Bohemia, admitted to the police that he had been drinking. He underwent surgery for non-life treating injuries. Police charged him with DWI. However, both cars have been impounded and further investigation is underway.
